There are not enough stars, except maybe on a clear Caribbean night, to rate this blockbuster! What a wonderful journey through the world of explorers, pirates and foodies. Yvonne Addario captains the ship that sails boldly amongst islands of spices and oceans of libations. Make sure this one makes it into your shopping cart. Do it or walk the plank!

Like many cooking enthusiasts, I enjoy reading cookbooks the way other people read high suspense mysteries and Explorers Cookbook and Travel Guide fits the bill. It really appeals to my penchant for armchair travel. You are swept away with the trade winds and a taste of salt in the air. Yvonne Addairo has created a celebration of the aromatic, sweet and tart, spicy and mild flavors of the region underscored with the need to understand and appreciate the history behind the food.
Explorers Cookbook and Travel Guide is a cookbook without borders. Illustrated with the most amazing photos, it highlights the people from numerous cultures that made their homes in the region and their recipes. There is also big dose of history featuring swashbucklers, pirates and plenty of exciting local lore.
Whether you are a novice or master chef, you will enjoy the varieties of fresh salsas, the most amazing conch fritters and delicious callaloo. This book is designed to share with family and friends to create wonderful memories as only one can do with food. Enjoy, and as they say in the islands "there are more days than weeks, so don't rush time".This book has a wealth of information for the home entertaining cook, as well as fantastic travel destination descriptions. The pirates of old, left us today with colorful stories to tell and their ports of call are ones you will long to visit. Your recipes look easy, and inviting to create. You've done a beautiful job with the large design and layout of this book.
